I was told linking the school day to behaviour at home and mental health would be hard.
And yet last week, thatโs exactly what I managed to do for the first time. Itโs taken one EHCP, one social care assessment, and one CAMHS assessment to tie this all together. None of which were easy to get.
Last week when my autistic daughter was distressed at home, I had the paperwork showing a causal link back to inadequate provision during the school day. Which now carries legal obligations and consequences.
Itโs taken the best part of a whole year, some of which Iโve been voluntarily unemployed because of the effort required, to be able to finally shield my daughter from the system itself.
